Speech Language Pathologists, SLP's, are state licensed therapists who evaluate and treat speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders. SLP's educate the patient and family regarding the diagnosis and therapy focuses on improving function and teaching compensations to improve successful communication with family and safety of swallowing. 

Examples of Speech Therapy services:

• Teaching techniques to improve a patient's successful communication with family and friends.
• Establish a home exercise program to improve strength and movement of muscles used for speech and swallowing.
  
• Education and training for recommended diet modifications to improve safe swallowing and prevent choking when eating and drinking.
